The SIMR Program (Stanford Institutes of Medicine Summer Research Program) is currently in the process of recruiting labs to participate. Would you or someone in your lab consider hosting a highly motivated high school student for this coming summer? These students will have finished their junior or senior year in high school before the program starts. For many of our students, this will be their first research experience. Your mentorship could have a tremendous impact on their career choices.
The program dates are Monday, June 10th- Thursday, August 1st, 2019 (8 weeks). We will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary of the program this summer! To remind you, all safety training, lectures, parking, and some meals are provided for all students, as is their summer stipend. Individual labs will be responsible for adding students to any protocols that the project will involve. We are asking that mentors commit to being present in the lab with the student for the duration of the program during normal work hours. All you need to do at this point is to identify a graduate student, fellow, or research assistant to volunteer to mentor them. The students are free! The students apply online through the SIMR program (via the website) and selected students will be assigned to labs in mid-April.
