Producing bionic eyes to restore and augment vision

Thursday, January 19, 2017 (All day)

"Retinal prostheses can already restore very crude vision to some blind people – but still too crude to be as useful as a stick or a guide dog", says E.J. Chichilnisky, of Stanford University. He discusses how understanding the retina at a cellular level promises to improve these devices – and potentially lead to other possibilities such as infrared vision and memory implants.
