Kate Duong

I am a sophomore at Mission College and going to transfer to UC Berkeley in Fall 2023. My major is Electrical Engineering and I am also interested in human health. Even my major is not too related to neuroscience, I am excited to learn a new field and explore a different path. The Neuroscience Research is a great opportunity to learn more about the human body works, especially human brain.

Jahnelle Ybarra Sullivan

I'm a student in the STEM program as a freshman. I love to read, write, mountain bike and would like to learn how to scuba dive one day. I love to take road trips with my husband and go camping. I love to learn and plan on applying to medical school when I'm done with my bachelor's. I also used to have 8 cats which 6 of them were rescued and raised them into old age. I also had a cockatiel bird who loved to dance and sing and would sit on my hand and arm and watch movies with me. He was a very beautiful bird that lived a very long time.

Arlyne Torres

Hello, everyone! I'm Arlyne Torres, & I am a proud first-generation Chicana pursuing a career in mechanical engineering. Growing up, I witnessed the lack of resources & understanding in medical technology advancement within my community. This experience has fueled my passion to make a meaningful difference. My ultimate aspiration is to establish 3-5 successful med tech start-ups that specifically target low-income communities of color. I am committed to provide my communities with the necessary resources to improve healthcare outcomes.

Nazly Gama Lagunas

I'm from Mexico. I am currently a freshman studying Biology at Foothill College and I’m planning to transfer to a four-year university. My strong desire is to have a positive and beneficial impact in the lives of other people and in society. Where I can provide a safe space to help people feel good about themselves, provide medical support in order to help immigrants, low-income people and children and disabled youth. In the future, I aspire to become a surgical dentist.

Miguel Fuentes

I am born and raised in Mountain View and currently attend Foothill College as a biology major. My interest in neuroscience sparked at an early age due to my families history of mental illness, as such I have always had a curiosity about the way our brains work. I look forward to furthering my understanding as a NeURO Fellow at The Tan Lab studying the developing and aging brain. In my free time I love listening to music, going to the movie theater, or playing basketball.

Feven Asmelash

My name is Feven Asmelash, I'm a freshmen in De Anza collage. I plan to be a Surgeon in the future. I find the human body to be really interesting and it is never boring to learn more about it, especially the brain that's why I chose it as a major. I like to draw and play my guitar in my free time. I also enjoy helping people hence, why I chose to become a surgeon. In addition, my family has a history of diabetes and learning more about human body might help me learn to avoid it and help my dad who suffers from it.
