NeURO Undergraduate Alumni

Kim Ngo

I am a freshman at Stanford planning on studying Symbolic Systems. I grew up in Minnesota and have interdisciplinary interests in neuroscience, psychology, and computer science. At Stanford, I am involved in Stanford Brain-Computer Interfaces, Stanford Women in CS, and the Haroush Lab. With the Haroush Lab, I will be researching the effects of early life stress on social provision and altruism as modeled in marmoset monkeys. In my free time, I enjoy boxing, music production, and basking in the sun.

Heidy Muñoz

Heidy Muñoz is a freshman interested in studying neurobiology. She currently works in the Gibson lab researching the role of OPCs in the circadian rhythm. Heidy is also involved in Stanford BCI, Stanford Undergraduate Psychology Association (SUPA), and Stanford University Neuroscience Society (SUNS). On her free time, she enjoys crocheting and making bouquets.

Noor Hassan

Hello! I am Noor and am currently a sophomore at Stanford University. As a Muslim(a) and a Woman of Color (WOC), I bring a passion for using technology for the greater good to the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Brain Research. Eventually, I hope to pursue a better understanding of how technology can be used to improve the quality of life for those suffering from neurological disorders and to advance brain technology. Outside of my academics, I enjoy dining with friends, hanging out with my family, and taking personal time to relax.

Kelly Harvell

My name is Kelly and I am a bioengineering major from Monterey, CA (‘24). I am interested in exploring neuromodulation as a treatment option for neurologic disorders and am excited to be working with the Baumer Lab as a NeURO fellow. The Baumer Lab seeks to understand the impact of epilepsy on brain connectivity in pediatric patients.

Maclaira Camper

Maclaira Camper is a freshman planning to study Human Biology. Currently working in the Coleman Lab at Stanford, she explores her the interconnectedness of bodily systems, studying the gut-brain axis within the context of olfaction. After graduating from Stanford, Maclaira plans on applying to medical school and eventually becoming a D.O. In her free time, she enjoys reading, gardening, going to the gym, and spending time with her loved ones.

Brandon Bui

Hi everyone, my name is Brandon Bui and I am from Manhattan Beach, CA. I am majoring in Human Biology with a concentration in Neurobiology and Neuroscience. On campus, I work in the Petritsch Lab studying brain cancer through mice models. In my free time I like to play soccer, eat Korean BBQ, go to the beach, and wait in the Wilbur line for general chicken.

Loran Baxter Mercado

I’m so excited to be a NeURO trainee! I’m working in the Yeatman lab on the LMB project and I’m especially interested in language and how it’s processed, stored, and retrieved in the brain. Outside of the lab you can find me running, skating, or playing Pokémon.

Harmony Alvarez

Harmony Alvarez is a Biology major with a strong interest in human health and neurology. An injury horseback riding led her to take two years away from Stanford and eventually to work with young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Harmony is excited to build on her past experiences with neurological disorders by studying pediatric epilepsy in the Knowles Lab this summer. In her free time, she enjoys spending time in the Oregon outdoors, the fiber arts and triathlon training.

Temiloluwa Babalola

Most people call me "Temi." I am Nigerian, and I live in Kansas City, Missouri. I have a sweet tooth and I love eating ice (cavities, yikes!). In my free time, I relax by playing games on my phone and listening to music before falling asleep. I read mostly webtoons and cultivation webnovels. I also enjoy watching anime and K-Dramas!
