Event Details:
Two-day workshop on R
Do you spend too much time wrestling with computers and not enough time doing research? Then join us for a two-day Software Carpentry workshop to learn core computer skills for getting more done in less time and with less pain.
This hands-on workshop, sponsored by the Stanford Neurosciences Institute, is targeted at researchers working with neuroscience data of all kinds and is open to affiliated students, postdocs, faculty and scientific staff. Short tutorials will alternate with practical exercises, and all instruction is done via live coding.
Topics to be covered:
- Automating tasks with the Unix shell
- Building programs with R
- Version control with Git

Software Carpentry's teaching is hands-on, so participants are required to bring their own laptops.
Attendees are expected to attend both days of the workshop.
Volunteers Needed
We are looking for 4 volunteers to assist the Software Carpentry instructors for the workshop. Some prior experience in unix, R and git would be good! Having taken the workshop previously would be great.
Contact Roula El-Asmar if you are interested.
