Transcriptional regulation in the development of forebrain GABAergic neurons

John Rubenstein, MD, Ph.D

Nina Ireland Distinguished Professor in Child Psychiatry, University of California, San Francisco

Host: Kristin Muench

Abstract

The transcription factors that regulate forebrain GABAergic development differ from those transcription factors utilized in other regions of the developing CNS. In my talk I will focus on our current studies of transcriptional mechanisms involving the Nkx2-1 and Lhx6 transcription factors, and the genomic regulatory elements (e.g. enhancers and promoters) and the genes downstream of them.
