How to explain the flow of time - Craig Callender
Craig Callender
Philosophy, University of California San Diego
Abstract
Explaining the flow of time is difficult because the explanatory target is unclear, and furthermore, once clear, there are many steps in the explanation. In this talk, I try to make progress by teasing about what is phenomenological and what is cognitive in our experience of time flow. I’ll show that three problems need to be answered. Then I’ll sketch a theory of time flow that makes use of no exotic temporal qualities nor any exotic temporal physics.
