The letters ‘MBCT’ appear in bold, large black text on the left, with ‘Seminar Series’ written below in smaller, gray text. The overall design conveys a theme of technology and neuroscience.

The MBCT Seminar Series explore ways in which computational and technical approaches are being used to advance the frontiers of neuroscience.

The Stanford Center for Mind, Brain, Computation, and Technology (MBCT) seminar series brings together leaders in neuroscience and allied fields to discuss innovative methods and discoveries that span experimental, theoretical, and computational frameworks.

Speakers include researchers from Stanford (e.g., faculty as well as senior trainees from MBCT’s training programs) and researchers from other leading institutions.

Join us for the 2024-2025 Seminar Series

Seminars take place approximately every other week, on Mondays at 4:00 PM in the John A. and Cynthia Fry Gunn Rotunda (E241) in the Stanford Neurosciences building (ChEM-H/Neuro, 290 Jane Stanford Way).

Speaker Nomination Process

The Center for Mind, Brain, Computation, and Technology (MBCT) integrates experimental research with computational and technical approaches at multiple levels of analysis to understand the functions of neural systems and to address functional disorders.

We welcome nominations for speakers whose work exemplifies this integrative approach, especially those who can effectively communicate complex scientific topics to a diverse audience. Even if you haven’t seen a potential speaker present, we encourage you to nominate them.

As you consider whom you might want to nominate, you may wish to browse the list of external resources compiled by the Society for Neurosciences to consider researchers from diverse backgrounds.

Trainee Lunches with Seminar Speakers

Are you a Stanford trainee interested in connecting with leading neuroscientists? The MBCT Seminar Series offers an exclusive opportunity for trainees to engage with our speakers over lunch, held from 12:00 – 1:00 PM on the day of each seminar. The seminar’s Student Committee organizes lunches for up to eight trainees, allowing for intimate discussions about the speaker’s research and career journey.

Post-Seminar Dinner

After each seminar, all attendees are invited to a post-seminar dinner hosted at the Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute Theory Center. Join us to continue the conversation with the speaker and network with colleagues over a relaxed meal.
