Department of Neurobiology
David Au is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Neurobiology, where he works with Dr. Stephen Baccus. His research uses machine learning to study the mammalian visual system, focusing on how sleep and learning modulate the neural codes of the visual cortex. David earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of California, Irvine, where he investigated how circadian photoreceptors in flies and mosquitoes drive complex behaviors such as sleep–wake regulation and phototaxis. Passionate about mentorship and community building, David actively supports peers and trainees from a wide range of unique backgrounds.
