Joshua Barsoian

Department of Biology (Neurosciences & Cellular, Molecular, and Organismal Biology) ('27)

Joshua Barsoian (‘27) is a Biology major studying Neurosciences and Cellular, Molecular, and Organismal Biology, with a minor in Medical Humanities. He became interested in neuroscience after studying cellular senescence in neurodegenerative diseases during an IntroSem on aging, building on that interest through coursework in neuroplasticity and neural networks.

Joshua joined the Institute as a Summer 2026 NeURO Fellow, studying how biomaterial encapsulation of neural progenitor cells may improve recovery after stroke in Dr. Paul George’s lab.

Joshua is involved with the Stanford Pre-Medical Association and Armenian Students’ Association, and enjoys Bay Area sports and serving in his local church.
