Knight Initiative for Brain Resilience Staff Alumni

Sage Bergerson

Sage is a research data analyst for the Knight Initiative's Brain Resilience Laboratory. She completed her MS in machine learning at University College London, where her research focused on speech recognition and natural language processing systems. Sage also holds a BS in neuroscience and computer science from New York University, where she was a research fellow with the Machine Learning for Language group. As part of the Brain Resilience Laboratory, she is applying deep learning methods to advance research in brain resilience and aging.

Syed Bukhari

Syed is the Primary Brain Dissectionist and Coordinator for all Research Brains that arrive to Stanford School of Medicine. He is the Primary Anatomist for the Knight Initiative for Brain Resilience, and also a a member of Dr. Thomas Montine’s team of scientists, where he works alongside the Neuropathologist in completing and analyzing data obtained from Rapid Brain Autopsies.

Shon Alimukhamedov

Shon Alimukhamedov supports the initiative’s flagship projects focusing on developing a comprehensive molecular map of human brain aging using both bulk and single-cell RNA-seq approaches. He also oversees numerous collaborations by providing expertise in next-generation sequencing, histology, and spatial transcriptomics techniques.

Shon’s independent project aims to characterize the transcriptomics changes associated with lipid droplet accumulation in the human brain using a combination of histological techniques and spatial transcriptomics.
